- Rip Sprites Mame Rom
- Rip Sprites Mame Download
- Over time, MAME (originally stood for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so MAME now documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus. This is the (unofficial) subreddit.
- In MAME, if you press F4 you enter the “Tile Viewer” - from there you can see palettes, character sets and - depending on the game - sprites. Let’s say you want to rip the sprites from Commando, by Capcom 1985 (I picked that game because I love it.
MAME Sprites Ripping, Mame Rip Sprites Emulator, Animated MAME GIF, Mame Sprite Extractor GIF, Arcade Emulator GIF Animation, VideoGames GIF Sprite Download. Hammerin’ Harry Arcade Game. Pac-Man already has sprites, Tetris doesn't need any, TJs game is the inertia senso no MAME game. I assume johnnywc will finish Rip Off first, before starting into Moon Cresta. Supercat doesn't do ports. Squish'em is no MAME title either and Bob is busy otherwize anyway. Rally X is on hold, so is Superbug I assume. Earlier versions of MAME had the tiles on a completely different screen where you can save a snapshot (like taking an in-game shot), then at some point MAME cut off the top pixel layer making any sprites on the top row annoying to get, and now it shows the tiles over the game (while paused) and even worse at various levels of zooming (as you.

I've heard that Final Burn Alpha can toggle layers, which would be ideal, but does FBA run in conjunction w/ Mame or what? I downloaded FBA v0.2.95.23 (cm).zip and it's just .DAT files, which I have no clue where to put Any help would rule. -ud _________________ Righteous Super Hero / Righteous Love

Speaking of which, undamned, is it possible for you to photograph the cart for that monkey breakout game? Because it sounds totally boss and I probably want one Pa _________________ Ancient Warlocks Electric Heat

Sorry if I confused you. I know nothing about F3 emulation. _________________ Shmups: It's all about blowing stuff up!

The (cm) in that .zip file name you posted leads me to believe that those .dat files are for a program called ClrMamePro, used to manage rom files for various emulators. I've actually never toyed with Final Burn Alpha, but hopefully it emulates F3, and with sprite/background layer toggling (of which F3 hardware has a large number). _________________

Negative. Puzzloop is genius, by the way. I also have the sequel on CPS2, but I havn't found the option to change from spinner to joy, though. -ud _________________ Righteous Super Hero / Righteous Love

Joined: 26 Jan 2005 Posts: 2565 Location: DC Area | F4 is just a tile viewer, isn't it? Maybe it's possible to piece together sprites from that, I have no idea, seems like it would be a hassle to do. I think the only way to disable layers in F3 (and most other drivers) in MAME is to actually modify the source to not draw the background planes in the F3 driver and recompile MAME... sorry. _________________

Sorry to bring this off topic, but by the look of the instructions, it is supposed to use a spinner, so you have the game and can confirm it will also work with a joystick? http://www.arcadeflyers.net/flyers/kaneko/121001302.jpg [update] Just tried out the rom in mame, yep requires a paddle. Its semi playable with a joystick in mame. I wonder how the paddle connects to the pcb? [/update]

You are one of the sickest hardware guys on the forums, so you should know what's up! Yes, I own the PCB, and yes it plays perfect on my Namco EX1 (yes, the same machine as yours). If you call slow movement 'semi playable' then you should be delighted to know that one of the neatest non-standard breakout clone features, in the game, is a jump button, which allows you to hop across the screen at a greater rate than just standard scrolling. -ud _________________ Righteous Super Hero / Righteous Love

This is a Sub-section tutorial on ripping with MAME, by O Illusionista. It gets indepth on what works. It will be pasted here.
Ripping from MAME is not an easy task. I will show some ways to do it, each one has its advantages and disadvantages. Choose the one which fits better to you.
If you wanna rip a CPS-1, CPS-2 or NEO-GEO games, try to use Kawaks, Nebula, Final Burn or any other emulator, it will be easier.
1- the Debug Method
Some games, like Denji Makai II, have a debug mode, which let you go into the debug mode.
This may change from game to game. In Denji Makai 2 case, its the F1 key
2- The F4 method
This works better with background images, but you can get many of the game sprites with patience. I advise you to set the screen to its own correct size, or your rips will be blurried. To capture the images, use ALT+PRINTSCREEN, since F12 doesn’t works. Left Shift + F12 makes MAME record a animated gif. Hit it again to stop recording.
When you are at the game, hit F4. It will bring you the palette screen.
Hit enter and it will bring you the tile viewer.
Commands:
<- or -> to cycle between the palettes.
Up and down scroll the lines.
+ or – change the tile size.
{ or } , on ISO 105 keyboards (USA, for example) change the graphic table. You can check the almost every sprite with that method, if the game’s graphic data isn’t encrypted.
Hit ENTER again and it will bring you to Tile Map viewer, where you can get background images. Animated sprites will vary depends on which game you are using. Some will be rendered frame by frame, and you will need to capture each frame (by using animget, or Screenget (which is better). Some games uses the animated sprites as sprites per set (entities), so you will need to check each game.

3- The Custom MAME method
There is a custom MAME version, made by Maximilianjenus, which let you disable EACH tile on the game. It works great, but its works only with CPS-1, CPS-2 and CPS-3 games, mainly the fighting games. Its a command line tool, check which games are supported on the readme files.

http://www.mediafire.com/?2bsw7yv3at9c1
4- The Artmoney method
The most complex of all. You can rip almost anything with it, but its hard to handle, the program crashes often and its a lot of trial-and-error.
It is covered by “Just No Point” from MFG, and it is made available in the “Artmoney Tutorial” subsection of the “Part 2: Tools & Resources” page.
