Install SPSS 26 on Windows/MAC

ATTENTION: MacOS 'Catalina' users: This version of MacOS locks file access that makes it appear that files are missing and affects the operation of SPSS and the ability to install PROCESS. Here is a video that might be helpful in working around this problem.
Using the included link for SPSS you will be taken to the page below. On this page choose the installer that works on your operating system.

.exe for Windows and .dmg for MAC.
*Do not close this window. You will need it during the licensing part of the installation.
SPSS 26 Install for Windows
If you are using a Windows computer you should have clicked on the .exe. After clicking the .exe you will be taken to the window below with a download button.
After downloading the .exe file, run the file.
Depending on how your computer is setup you may be prompted with the screen below.
If you are, click yes to continue.
If not, continue on with the installation.
The next several screenshots will take you through the installation process.

Once you have gotten to this step you will need to continue to the SPSS 26 Licensing Instructions.
SPSS 26 Install for MAC
Before you start the SPSS installation on your MAC please verify that your system meets the requirements.
*You will be installing SPSS 26
If you are using a MAC computer you should have clicked on the .dmg. After clicking the .dmg you will be taken to the window below with a download button.
After downloading the .dmg file, double click to extract the software.
Open SPSSStatistics.
Double click the SPSS_Statistics_Installer.
When prompted, open the installer to run the program.
Choose the on which you want to run the installation wizard.

Once you have gotten to this step you will need to continue to the SPSS 26 Licensing Instructions.
SPSS 26 Licensing
Before you start the licensing process, return to the webpage where you downloaded your installer and open the 'Students Auth Code.txt' file.
'Students Auth Code.txt' contains your authorization code.
In the License Wizard, select the “Authorized user license” option and click “Next”.
Enter the authorization code that you got from 'Students Auth Code.txt' and click 'Next'.
The authorization process will happen automatically. Once done click 'Next'.
Verify that you get the confirmation of the license and click 'Finish'.
SPSS & AMOS
IBM SPSS is a computer program used for statistical analysis that Alliant International University licenses for academic use. Select the IBM SPSS icon on the left to go to their web site.Alliant International University utilizes IBM SPSS Statistics Premium Bundle Campus Edition and IBM SPSS AMOS for classroom instruction and data gathering/analysis.
Annually, Information Technology works with the Provost's office and Alliant faculty to determine which version of SPSS will be adopted for the academic year. For the 2020-2021 academic year, SPSS v27 is the standard.
IBM SPSS and IBM SPSS Amos on Campus Availability
The following statistics applications are installed and available for use on all Alliant classroom, and open lab computers:
- IBM SPSS Premium Campus Edition
- includes the following modules: Statistics Base, Advanced Statistics, Regression, Custom Tables, Data Preparation, Missing Values, Forecasting, Decision Trees, Direct Marketing, Complex Samples, Conjoint, Neural Networks, Bootstrapping, Categories and Exact Tests.
- IBM Amos
Alliant Desktop Computers
If you currently have SPSS installed on an Alliant issued desktop computer, your license for SPSS and Amos should update automatically for 2020-2021. If you receive an expiration notice upon startup of SPSS, please submit a service request to ithelp@alliant.edu.
Alliant Laptop Computers and IBM SPSS Off-campus Availability
IBM SPSS Statistics is available for Alliant issued laptops and/or personal computer 'At Home' use, to Alliant Core Faculty and to Alliant Students who are currently enrolled in a statistics (or statistics-related) course, or currently working on a dissertation.
SPSS System Requirements
If you are a student or faculty member who is planning to install SPSS software on your personal computer, please be aware of the following minimum system requirements:Windows, IBM SPSS System Requirements
- Microsoft Windows 10 or newer.
- Memory: Minimum 4GB RAM, while 8GB RAM or more is highly recommended.
- Minimum free drive space: 4x the size of your data file size. Example: 8GB free for 2GB SPSS data file.
- Web browser: Edge, IE, Chrome, FireFox.
Mac, IBM SPSS System Requirements
- Apple MacOS Catalina (10.15) or newer.
- Memory: Minimum 4GB RAM, while 8GB RAM or more is highly recommended.
- Minimum free drive space: 4x the size of your data file size. Example: 8GB free for 2GB SPSS data file.
- Web browser: Safari, Chrome, FireFox, Edge.
From the Apple menu in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. You should see the macOS name, such as macOS Catalina, followed by its version number.
Which Windows version I have installed?

ChromeOS, Linux, Microsoft Surface currently are not supported by IBM SPSS statistics.
Mobile platforms are not currently supported by IBM SPSS statistics.
